SGS performs environmental testing on equipment, electrical, electronic, electrotechnical on based on national and international NF, EN, ISO, IEC defined by CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization).

The resistance to salt spray according to NF-EN-IEC60068-2-11: Test Ka aims to compare the resistance to deterioration due to salt spray specimens of similar products. It enables to evaluate the quality and uniformity of protective coatings on connectors, cables, varnish protectors on electronic boards…

The test described in standard NF-EN-IEC60068-2-52: Test Kb: Salt mist, cyclic associates to neutral salt spray (35°C / 5% NaCl) dry heat phases and can generate different corrosion phenomena from those observed in classic continuous salt spray corrosion.

NF-EN-IEC60068-2-60: Test Ke: gas mixture corrosion test establishes the corrosive influence of the environment on electrical components, electrical equipment and materials on operating or stored.

Gas mixtures used according to this method are four in number, diluted in low concentration (H2S, SO2, Cl2, NO2).

Those ageing are generally associated with insulation resistance and contact resistance measurements according to Standard NF-EN-CEI60512-2-1: Connectors for electronic equipment-Tests and measurements-Part 2-1: Electrical continuity tests and contact resistance.

Some standards of aging gas corrosion complement NF-EN-IEC60068-2-60:

  • NF-EN-IEC60068-2-42: Test Kc: Sulfur dioxide test for contacts and connections (SO2),
  • NF-EN-IEC60068-2-43: Test Kd: Hydrogen sulphide test for contacts and connections for (H2S).
